Hi, my name is Sam Spear.
I hold a Masters in Clinical Psychology and am a licensed and practicing psychotherapist. I've been doing this work since 2007.
I want to help you find the best of yourself. Using your strengths to help you get out of your own way so that you can see your blind spots and respond to your weaknesses with curiosity rather than anger or paralysis. We'll identify opportunities you can both create and seize to make you happier and more productive, ultimately getting you to be more aware, present, and insightful. With this work we'll do, you'll make the kind of difference you were put here to make.
Chances are you’re facing some sort of challenge: a personal or professional relationship that’s just not working the way you want. Perhaps you've noticed that you're making choices that are "out of character," or maybe there's been a noticeable uptick in your anxiety or depression. There's a reason for all of it, and we'll work to get at it's origin, demystify it and learn more about how this challenge is both serving and not serving you. We'll talk about options about how you want to proceed, and if you're committed to this process the likelihood that you'll walk away with more resources to better cope with this is high.
Maybe you’re looking for meaning, maybe you’re looking for practical guidance. Maybe you're looking for both. Together we will use a variety of tools and activities to develop skills so you gain insight into how you think, behave, and feel. Despite whatever you might believe, this is an opportunity and you've read this far for a reason. I'd love to help you better understand that reason.
If you are ready to make some changes, I’m ready to use everything in my professional toolbox to help you.
About Active Psychotherapy
Combining movement and physical activity with traditional "talk" therapy, Active Psychotherapy allows for another way to gain insight and wisdom into our relationship with ourselves and others. Additionally, incorporating action with discussion lends itself to stress reduction and awareness not always found while sitting in a psychotherapy office. Much like music or art therapy, Active Psychotherapy can be a faster and more effective tool to catalyze change.
Clients often speak of how much fun this approach can be.
